When you mention Back to School, most people think about all of the school supplies, clothes that have been outgrown, and new teachers and friends. For over 10 years now we've turned our attention to what goes in those back packs every weekend. We are the Back Pack Program of Gladewater and we send food home with kids in need every school weekend. Last year we were sending food home with 240 kids a week in the Gladewater and Union Grove ISD's, kids that might not have enough food to eat over the weekend. The cost has grown to almost $40,000 a year to operate now so we are looking for local businesses or individuals, that also care about our community kids and would like to help sponsor kids each week of once a month or even once a year.
