Meadow Creek Woodworking

Meadow Creek Woodworking Woodworking, restorations and repurposing. I've had a fascination with construction and woodworking since building a gun cabinet in the 10th grade.

Although I have spent the last 27 years in the outdoor power equipment business, woodworking has always been my favorite hobby. In the past few years, I have returned to this and it's what I do for relaxation. Historic preservation, repurposing materials and building custom heirloom pieces has always been my passion. Meadow Creek Woodworking is set up as a division of my primary business, James So

uthworth & Company, LLC. Most of my work has been for family and friends, but I do some customer work as time allows. If you see something that speaks to you, send me a message and I will be glad to give you a price on doing it.

I don’t care how many times you do this it never gets old. Feeding in a rough cut board and seeing this come out the backside is always pretty awesome! 😎

After burning up a few of the small planers I finally broke down and bought a larger helical head machine. After having it for a couple months, I finally got it set up and also added a dust collection to the planer shop. If anybody is in the market for a planer I highly recommend this one. I have only run a few boards through it, but it gives an amazing finish! 😍

This weeks project was a 7’ tall cross for our Church. They asked me to build one for the upcoming Easter service. Finished with Odie's Oil Super Duper oil. I really don’t think I will ever use traditional stain again. I mixed some of the Chestnut and black pigments together to get this tone. I think it turned out pretty cool. Odies is still my favorite finish πŸ˜„

I can finally post pictures of this project. I finished this up before Christmas. A friend reached out to me about a year ago with this idea. I had never built anything quite like it, but it was cool bringing her vision to life. A couple antique wagon wheels and some beautiful cedar. It was a lot of back and forth getting the design right for the CNC work, but I think overall it turned out pretty cool. The Sprouse family have been customers and friends for years. My girls spent many evenings when they were little taking lessons with LaRue. It's pretty cool to have something I made have a place on that farm. Grateful for the opportunity!

I have literally spent hundreds of dollars trying different finishes and I always come back to Odie's Oil. My first time playing around with their pigments. Mixed some white pigment in with the oil to change the tone of this ash. I think it turned out pretty cool. Still have three more drawer sections to build and two bookcases. I’ll post more pictures as I get it done.

Inset kitchen "Chimney Cabinet" that I just completed for my favorite client (aka my wife). Very old growth pine lumber milled up about 75 years ago. Antique hardware and finished with danish oil. I think it turned out pretty cool!
