Southworth Crafted Woodworking, restorations and repurposing. I've had a fascination with construction and woodworking since building a gun cabinet in the 10th grade.

Although I have spent the last 27 years in the outdoor power equipment business, woodworking has always been my favorite hobby. In the past few years, I have returned to this and it's what I do for relaxation. Historic preservation, repurposing materials and building custom heirloom pieces has always been my passion. Meadow Creek Woodworking is set up as a division of my primary business, James Southworth & Company, LLC. Most of my work has been for family and friends, but I do some customer work as time allows. A little update on Southworth Crafted…

The website has been updated. It still has a ways to go, but it’s better than the “ coming soon” page that’s been up for a while 😂

I’m planning to have a few handcrafted pieces available for purchase before Christmas. After the holidays, I’m hoping to start opening up the schedule for some larger custom builds.

The power equipment business has kept me pretty busy this year, but as we get closer to fall, things should begin to slow down a little and give me more time in the woodworking shop.

I’m looking forward to sharing more projects from the shop over the next few months! I appreciate everybody’s support and business!

Starting this fall, I’m planning to set up the sawmill in a more permanent location and do quite a bit more milling. I already have several logs waiting, but I’m looking for more quality logs and reclaimed lumber.
I don’t currently have the equipment to pick up or haul logs, so they would need to be delivered. However, I’m interested in purchasing suitable logs or milling on shares, where we split the lumber produced.
I’m especially interested in walnut, white oak, cherry, maple, old-growth pine, and other unique or quality hardwoods. I’m also interested in reclaimed lumber from old barns, houses, and other structures.

A little more progress on the vegetable storage cabinet. It started out as a “storage bin” but I decided to put inset doors on it since I had some left over hinges from our kitchen build. This is one of two. This one has doors and the other one will be drawers. I should finish up this project next weekend and then back to commission work.
