🎉 SAME web address — NEW look! 🎉
The Book Shelf has grown SO MUCH since its start in 2024.
In the beginning, I catered book bundles to youth readers (everyone from pre-K through teens). It seemed like the perfect transition from teaching, where I had already been building my own curriculums around lesser-known-titles to combat the often heard ‘I don’t like to read’. I learned that nearly every student that ever said this had just not found THEIR story yet.
I simply didn’t find the local audience for this initial idea, so I pivoted after the first 6 months in business to focus on adult readers. Still running with my mission to highlight lesser-known-titles, The Book Shelf truly started to grow.
As I became more confident in my ideas and creativity (and picked up speed in attending local markets and events) I shifted to crafting ALL of my reading accessories: flowers, bookmarks, stamped journals, seasonal reading challenges, book review starter kits, bookish frames, you name it.
✨ It is at this juncture that I felt The Book Shelf was REALLY born ✨
The majority of my sales were generated at in person events — so I closed up my website shop, added a ‘custom order’ form in its place and redirected my energy to creating, putting The Book Shelf out there at a myriad of markets.
During the end of 2025, I hosted my first market and fell in love with the process: gathering and organizing a supportive vendor community, partnering with local businesses and giving life to events I would want to attend as a woman AND vendor.
The Book Shelf has matured a bit since 2024, and it was time for a more simple and effective website — and the one that reflects how I love to create for each person’s reading journey.
It may seem like a little thing, the creating of this teeny tiny corner of the internet, but it is also a bit of a mirror into who you are following, buying from and chatting all things books with ♥️📚
