Nothing says fall like a big, full mum. 🍁

A tip for picking one: go for a plant with lots of tight buds and only a few open flowers. It'll keep blooming for weeks instead of peaking the day you bring it home. Keep it well watered, especially in a pot, and it'll stay full and bright all season.

Our mums are in and looking great. Come pick out your colors this week.

Plant them now and enjoy them until spring. 🌸

Pansies are one of the best deals in the garden. Fall-planted pansies bloom through cool weather, hang on through most of the winter, and come back strong in early spring. One planting gets you color for months.

They're great in window boxes, porch pots, and along the front walk. We have a wide range of colors on the benches right now.

That "eye" isn't an eye. It's a fake eyespot the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail caterpillar uses to scare off birds. And one of the plants it feeds on is the Sweetbay Magnolia.

Plant a sweetbay and you're feeding the next generation of swallowtails, plus the birds that come for its red seeds in fall. It also handles wet, soggy spots where other trees struggle, which makes it a great pick for rain gardens or that low corner of the yard.

Silver Mist Sweetbay Magnolias are in stock now. Native, fragrant, and good for wildlife.

Pumpkin season is here. 🎃

Big ones for carving, small ones for the table, and plenty in between for stacking on the porch steps. Bring the kids, let them pick their own, and make an afternoon of it.

Come out this week while the selection is at its best.

Your front porch is ready for fall. Are you? 🍂

Pumpkins, mums, and pansies are all in, and the greenhouse is full of color right now. Come out this morning, load up the cart, and have the porch done by lunch.

A couple of mums by the door, a stack of pumpkins on the steps, and pansies tucked into your planters. That's all it takes.

See you today!

Still blooming in October. 🤍

Our Silver Mist Sweetbay Magnolia is a Virginia native with creamy white flowers and a sweet, lemony scent. Turn a branch over and you'll see where the name comes from: the undersides of the leaves are silver, and they flash when the wind moves through.

We've got a good batch in right now, from smaller starter trees to some that are already a nice size. A few are still pushing out flowers and buds, so come smell one for yourself this weekend.

Fall is one of the best times of year to plant a tree. Cooler air, warm soil, and roots that get settled in before spring.

🌳 HALF OFF: select shrubs are 50% off now through Saturday, October 3rd!

Fall is the best season to plant shrubs. The soil is still warm, the air is cool, and the roots get months to grow before summer heat returns. This is a great time to fill in that bare spot in your landscape.

🕘 Tuesday–Saturday, 9–5
Sale ends Saturday, October 3rd. Selection is limited, so come early.
