Some varieties are impressive. Others are almost impossible to find.

🔥 What makes the 1957 Franklin Half Dollar Tripled Die Reverse (TDR), FS-801 special? This is considered the most dramatic variety of the date and is extremely rare.

So, what exactly causes a TDR?

TDR = Tripled Die Reverse. During the hubbing process at the U.S. Mint, the working hub struck the working die multiple times with a slight shift between impressions. Those misaligned impressions transferred overlapping images onto the die, creating the distinctive tripling on the finished coins.

For variety collectors, this is the kind of coin that makes you stop, look twice, and reach for the loupe. 🔎

🪙✨ 1830 Capped Bust Half Dollar — Large “0” Variety 🇺🇸

A beautiful piece of early American history! This 1830 United States Capped Bust Half Dollar was struck in 90% silver during a period of economic growth and expanding commerce in the young nation.

🔎 This coin features the Large “0” variety of the 1830 half dollar. The “0” in the date 1830 is noticeably larger and wider compared to the “Small 0” die pairings of that year—a distinctive detail that makes this variety especially interesting to collectors of early U.S. coinage.

The obverse features Liberty wearing a Phrygian, or Freedom, Cap—a powerful symbol of the American Revolution—with a headband inscribed LIBERTY, surrounded by 13 stars representing the original colonies, and the date 1830 below.

On the reverse, a bold eagle proudly clutches arrows and an olive branch, symbolizing strength and peace, surrounded by UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, with 50 C below.

A stunning combination of 90% silver, early American history, beautiful engraving, and a collectible die variety. 🇺🇸🦅

Silver comes in the coolest shapes. 😎

And yes… those are 1 Gram .999 Silver Bullets. 😂

Because who said stacking silver had to be boring?
A tiny little reminder that silver can be shiny, fun, and just a little bit dangerous-looking. 😉💰

Stack smart. Stack shiny. Have some fun with it! 🪙✨

This is a PCI graded 1901-S, gold Liberty Head five dollar coin in MS63.
Phew! That was a mouthful. 😅

This gorgeous gold coin was worth $5 in gold when it was minted. Now it's definitely worth more than that...thanks inflation.
Coins like this one were regularly used in banking and trading during the era of the gold standard.

The obverse features a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty wearing a coronet inscribed with “LIBERTY,” surrounded by 13 stars and the date 1901. The reverse showcases a majestic heraldic eagle holding an olive branch and arrows, with “IN GOD WE TRUST” above and “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “FIVE D.” surrounding the design.

A beautiful gold coin with more than a century of history behind it! 🇺🇸✨

🪙 What Could a Morgan Silver Dollar Actually Buy?

Here’s something that’ll make your wallet feel a little inadequate…
Back when Morgan Silver Dollars were jingling around in people’s pockets, $1 was real money. And I mean REAL money.

A Morgan Dollar could buy things like a decent meal, several pounds of groceries, a haircut, or other everyday necessities depending on the year and where you lived.

Today... maybe a lollipop?

Today, a Morgan Dollar also isn't really valued at $1 anymore. Depending on its date, mint mark, condition, rarity and other factors, an original Morgan can be worth many times its face value.
In fact, it was made from 90% silver and 10% copper, weighed about 26.73 grams, and contains roughly 0.7734 troy ounce of actual silver.

So when you're holding one, you're holding a piece of American history AND a piece of precious metal.
Not bad for something that says: ONE DOLLAR. 🪙🇺🇸

🚨 We have a semi-local piece of history hiding in plain sight. 🚨

This “Official Souvenir,” often called a “So-Called Dollar,” was made for the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Louisiana Purchase of 1803.

You know… that little real-estate deal where the United States bought a ridiculously huge chunk of land from France. 🇺🇸🤝🇫🇷

The front features Thomas Jefferson and Napoleon Bonaparte, major players behind the 1803 treaty.

So basically, this piece is celebrating the moment when Jefferson and Napoleon got together and pulled off one of the biggest land deals in American history.

No Zillow.
No escrow.
No 30-year mortgage.

Just $15 million and roughly 530 million acres. 😳

Could this coin have passed through the hands of the Apostle Paul?🤯🪙🤯🪙🤯

It’s a fascinating thought.

This ancient silver coin was minted in Antioch, Syria, sometime between AD 54 and 68, during the reign of the Roman Emperor Nero—right around the time the Apostle Paul was carrying out his ministry.

Antioch was a major center of the early Christian movement and played an important role in Paul’s ministry and missionary journeys. Paul spent significant time in the city, making it entirely possible that he encountered coins like this one.

Could this exact coin have been handled by Paul himself?

We’ll never know for certain. But holding a piece of silver that was minted during Paul’s lifetime—and in a city so closely connected to his ministry—is an incredible connection to the world of the New Testament.
