This week’s find at : A captivating, c. 1890’s-1900’s Art Nouveau pocket watch in 18KT gold. Rich with symbolism, this beauty may have originally been given as a love token and features two book-matched griffins grasping an ivy leaf over a sea of forget-me-nots. Griffins: Vigilance, strength, divine protection. Ivy: unwavering fidelity, friendship. Forget-me-not: true love, and enduring remembrance. Wow— what a message! 😍⏱️🥰

Dr. Ted hit the jackpot today!! 🤩📸 He encountered this absolute treasure trove of photos of ! Many of these are during the residency of the Frederick Hack family, circa 1920s. Hack was the first president of the Farmers and Merchants bank and oversaw a large expansion of the main home, adding a modern kitchen and indoor bathrooms, as well as extensive improvements on the property. Wow! We had long suspected there might have been greenhouses (or at least cold frames) on the low side of the hill, and also contemplated how the cupola fit the carriage house— now we know! Check out the insane sunken garden and bank hothouse on the southeast side of the house! We took some photos of what they look like today… anyone want to have a wisteria clearing party?

We thought this was a piece of military surplus when we picked it up at the Estate Sale… but, Surprise! It turns out that this is a rare cocktail shaker made by Gorham, c. 1915 to 1917! Gorham combines a WWI bombshell motif with luxurious materials of solid brass, copper, and silver plate in this pre-prohibition era Shaker. The base originally contained a stack of concealed Old Fashioned glasses. 🍸🥃 The last pic shows a Sotheby’s listening of the same one— Would you restore or keep as found?
