The first mentioning of herbalism was in The Rig Veda, a Hindu holy text dating back to 3,000BC. From its inception herbalism was a system designed not simply to treat disease. It is meant to bring every aspect of our being into equilibrium, allowing us to go beyond any risk of illness, so we may achieve higher states of consciousness.
