The Curry Anadromous Fisherman (CAF) Salmon Derby, which supports the Indian Creek Hatchery on the lower Rogue River, starts TODAY! Join us from August 7th to August 10th in Gold Beach. 🎣

Sign up here at the Rogue Outdoor Store and check the attached rules for details. Weigh-ins will be held at the Port of Gold Beach next to the cleaning station from 8 AM - 5 PM Wednesday to Friday & from 8 AM - 3 PM on Saturday.

Banquet dinner tickets will be available at the door for purchase on Saturday evening at the Gold Beach Community Center starting with beverages at 4 PM and dinner from 5 PM to 7 PM. Enjoy raffle boards & silent auctions with fantastic items including a live auction for one of Rand Dericco’s stunning wood salmon nets. Join us for community fun, fishing, and fantastic prizes at this year's derby!

Weekend update:
🐟 Stronger bite in the afternoon with an increase in Cohos with multiple Jacks taken. Saturday's numbers were solid. Several folks upriver fishing for Salmon & through the canyon to Agness.
🔥Lower visitor turnout on the river due to Hwy 199 closure but that's picked up with the reopening. We're already seeing folks coming out from that direction.
☀️No smoke, minimal wind and pretty idyllic conditions - making for a pretty great weekend in Gold Beach!

And we're officially into Labor Day Weekend! Looking forward to no wind & moderate weather. A few updates:

🐟 Bay fisheries are producing. Chinooks have transitioned to Silvers. Indian Creek hatchery fish are starting to show. Across the board, it's been great quality and size.
🐟 The 360 flasher is the craze but folks are testing out the inline flasher or Rogue bait rig with anchovies.
🐟 Labor Day Weekend boat count likely to be around 105 - relatively high but manageable.

Location details...
🎣 Bank fishing for Chinooks off of the sand spit and Indian Creek trough is still relatively light producing.
🎣 Upriver, summer steelhead now in for several weeks and some are showing up by Agness. It's been a less than stellar run...but at least it started (unlike last year).
🎣 Red fin perch are waining at the mouth. People are moving north and south on the beaches.
🎣 Mussel closure from Bandon to California.
