I remember being a little girl and watching 9 to 5 and hearing Dolly Parton sing. I was probably around eight or nine, and I still remember how happy and uplifted she made me feel.
There was something about Dolly — her smile, her music, her humor and her strength — that made you feel like you could work hard, stand up for yourself and somehow find your way to something better.
She's been one of those familiar voices and faces that has been there throughout my entire life. What an incredible legacy of music, laughter, kindness and joy. ❤️
Some of the songs I will always cherish and remember her by — Jolene, I Will Always Love You, Here You Come Again, and Islands in the Stream. And of course, 9 to 5, which takes me right back to being a little girl. ❤️🎶
