This is why we always tell people that a feeder is only part of the story if you want them to stay throughout the summer.

That bluebird isn’t just visiting for a snack.

He’s gathering mealworms to feed the next generation.

When you pair a bluebird feeder with a nesting box, you’re not just attracting birds. You’re giving them a reason to stay, raise a family, and return day after day.

Watching a parent fly from the feeder straight to the nest box never gets old.

If your goal is to build a backyard full of moments like this, start with both.

💙 BlueFeast Bluebird Feeder (designed to reduce access for large birds like starlings).

🪺 Sparrow Resistant Bluebird Nesting Box (designed to reduce sparrows trying to nest).

Together, they create something far more rewarding than simply attracting birds.

Everyone wants the bluebirds.

Very few people create the conditions that make them stay.

A bluebird feeder is powerful, but the real magic happens when you combine it with quality nesting boxes and give bluebirds a reason to raise their families in your yard during the spring and summer.

That’s exactly how we turned our backyard into a place they return to day after day.

If you’re not seeing bluebirds yet or they disappear during the summer, don’t give up. You’re building something that can pay off for years.

🪺 Start with nesting boxes (our nesting box that reduces sparrows is a fave in our backyard).
🐦 Add this mealworm feeder, designed with bluebirds in mind and reduces access to large birds like starlings.
💦Add a space with water; like a birdbath.
💙 Enjoy the bluebirds that call your yard home.

Which do you have right now: a feeder, a nesting box, or both?

If you don’t have the feeder or nesting boxes yet; get yours at https://birdhaven.com/collections/bluebird-houses and experience what 1000’s of happy clients and bluebirds experience in their backyard💙

We were sitting down for dinner when we happened to glance out the window.

A bright red flash caught our eye.

A male and female cardinal had landed together and started eating side by side.

For the next few minutes we just sat there watching.

With backyard bird feeding.

It’s about creating a place where moments like this can happen.

A place where cardinals, finches, chickadees, nuthatches, and so many others feel comfortable enough to make your backyard part of their daily routine.

And every once in a while, they give you a front-row seat to something special.

❤️ If you’d love more moments like this outside your window, our poly-built feeders made by Amish craftsman are designed to create exactly that while lasting season after season.

Seeing a bluebird land on top of the feeder is always exciting.

But watching them from inside the feeder gives you a perspective most people never get to experience.

You can see every movement, every mealworm they pick up, and all the little details you’d normally miss from across the yard.

One reason this works so well is that the feeder is designed to reduce access for larger birds like starlings while still allowing bluebirds easy entry. Creating a feeding space that favors bluebirds and reduces larger birds access can make a huge difference.

It’s moments like these that turn a backyard into a place you never want to stop watching.

Join our 6 year old while filling feeders.

And watch who starts arriving.

One of our favorite parts of bird feeding is enjoying this hobby as a family and watching our kids realize that birds actually learn where food is and keep coming back.

It’s not just tossing out seed.

It’s creating a place wildlife trusts enough to visit every day.

And honestly, seeing that excitement through a child’s eyes never gets old.

What bird would make your day if it showed up at your feeder tomorrow?

Orioles have a way of making you stop whatever you’re doing and stare. 🧡

Their season always feels too short.

One day they’re showing up every morning for oranges and jelly… and before you know it, they’re heading south again.

That’s one reason we love this feeder. Once the orioles leave, you can simply swap out the food cups and use it as a water station or fill it with seed for other backyard birds to enjoy all year long.

Now I’m curious…

Do you still have orioles visiting your yard, or have they already disappeared for the season? 👇

Most people never get to see this.

Not because bluebirds don’t do it.

Because it’s happening inside the feeder. 🩵

These young bluebirds are still following their parents around, waiting for the next mealworm delivery.

And when the parents show up, it’s game on.

In.Grab a mealworm (live mealworms preferred during fledgling season) Feed a baby.Repeat.

Over and over again.

This is exactly why we love bluebird season.

Our BlueFeast feeder creates a dedicated feeding space for bluebirds while helping reduce access for larger bully birds like starlings and grackles.

Handcrafted by Amish families from recycled poly lumber and built to last for years of bluebird watching.

There’s something about an open platform feeder that birds trust fast.

No tiny perches.
No awkward ports.
Just easy access.

And throughout the year it’s a constant hub of activity!

Such a fun feeder to watch in every season.

Pro tip: only fill what they’ll eat within a day or two so the seed stays fresh. That one change alone can increase activity more than most people realize.

Once they find a feeder setup they like, they’ll work it right into their daily routine.

This guy has been making constant trips back to this feeder, and the hook landing before flying in gets me every time. 👀

Fresh oranges, consistent food, and a feeder with comfortable landing space makes a huge difference if you want them sticking around longer through the season.

And because this feeder is built with heavy-duty poly lumber materials, it’s made to stay out season after season instead of needing to be replaced every year.
