I had the opportunity the take a couple guys named Nick and Adam from just over the hill from Gran Lake on a big fish adventure. Even though it was the middle of August and water temps were in the lower 70’s, we found a bunch of quality bites. We boated a 30”, 29”, 26”, 25” and another 25” but had 7 more bites we didn’t capitalize on. We also took home a couple of limits of eater sized fish in between.

Right now, jig stroke and cadence are everything and you need to be trying just about everything you can think of to entice a bite. For it was absolutely crucial because the bites we had were so short and fast. We had to be ready to set the hook on any little tick on the line.

Thanks a bunch for a great day and a bunch of laughs, Gentlemen! We will do it all over again next year and assign more appropriate nicknames to each other then.

August is coming to a close after a busy summer and water temperatures are starting to drop as the days are getting shorter. Fishing has been very good all summer even though it has looked different than usual with the low water. We expect this fall to continue the trend of great fishing and looking forward to the cooler temps and those leaves that are soon to be changing! Here's what Williams Fork looks like today. It's 59.4' low sitting at only 31% capacity. Denver Water is projecting that by spring 2027 Will Fork will be somewhere between 6% to 15% capacity. Sure hope the fish survive this? Randy H - Guide Fishing with Bernie
