R&B Used Books

Censorship has so many numbers involved and nuances. The numbers of banned and challenged books has been increasing every year but SO many people are doing work to help counteract it.

Yesterday we kicked off Banned Books Week with a Read-In. We will continue to share some of our favorite banned reads.

We are in out annual push for 20,000 books sold in the last quarter of the year. Your Bookshop purchases help push us towards that goal. Thank you 💕📖📚

It’s no secret that we are at a critical point for literature in the U.S. as lawmakers and others continue to challenge and ban books at an alarming rate. Here at Bookshop.org, we are deeply committed to fighting censorship and uplifting voices, especially those that are traditionally marginalized and underrepresented, and we invite you to join us in protecting the freedom to read.

From now through October 18, you can get 15% off select challenged and banned titles on our site with code BBW26. Whether you’re looking to add another book to your collection or gift one to someone in your life, your support for these stories goes a long way in ensuring these books can stay on shelves and get into the hands of kids, teens, and adults across the U.S.

Expires 10/18/26. Discount off list prices, excludes ebooks.

We are open 10:30-4 today for the kickoff to Banned Books Week. Make a day of it by visiting our friends at Deer Park Vintage, stroll Physician’s Park and grab a bite at Irene’s or a coffee from Melli’s. It’s a beautiful day to visit Grand Blanc

We decided to make Sundays at Deer Park Vintage Co. last a little longer with expanded autumn hours!

Come see us every Sunday starting again today, which is perfect weather for a stroll in downtown Grand Blanc 🖤 🦌🍂

Vintage clothes, accessories & decor, records, cds & tapes, locally made artisan goods, and whimsy ✨️

It’s that time of year again. The time when we wade into the ridiculous world of book bans and get called groomers for having the audacity to believe parents can actually be intelligent enough to understand their own children and set personal reading standards for their own families. Yup, yup. We tend to think 🤔

We kickoff Banned Books Week tomorrow. Come join us for a Silent Book Club read in and get a free audiobook from Libro.fm for participating. The read in is from 1:00-2:30 pm, but doors will be open 11:00 to 4:00 tomorrow so come read anytime

As exposed in a recent Salon report on PEN America’s tracking data, censorship groups are no longer even pretending to target "inappropriate" material

Something to do to keep the spooky vibes going after you come hang at the Spooktacular Book Fair at Creative Cafe from 12-3. You know R&B is all about the animals (Beth can’t go because she’d literally pspsps and get eaten by a lion 🦁 😂)

Something strange is loose at the zoo.

Monster Presents!™ is taking over Howl-O-Ween at Wilderness Trails Zoo for an adults-only night of creatures, chaos and dangerously weird entertainment.

CRITICALLY DANGEROUS!™
Hosted by Happy Birthday and their cast creepy creatures!

Saturday, October 17
Adults 21+
Doors 7 PM
Show 7:30 PM
Wilderness Trails Zoo, Birch Run

Expect original characters, dark camp, horror-variety performances, specialty acts, audience interaction and a night built to feel nothing like your standard Halloween outing.
And this one has a bigger purpose.

All proceeds help rebuild the lions’ enclosure at Wilderness Trails Zoo.

So come for the Monsters, support the animals and help us PACK THE ZOO.
