We love hearing success stories from FAM, it reminds us why we do what we do. One of our Alumni Advocates from next door was kind enough to share this with us.
βAs I sat in the audience at a recent graduation ceremony, I found myself reflecting on the power of simply showing up. This graduation was especially meaningful because it celebrated someone who, at one point, never thought earning a diploma would be possible. As they walked across the stage, I couldn't help but think about how much growth had taken place to get to that moment; growth that often happens quietly, one step at a time, long before anyone else can see it. At the end of the ceremony, each graduate was given a flower to present to someone who had impacted their journey. When this member walked over and handed me theirs, tears filled my eyes. Not because I was looking for recognition, we don't do this work for recognition, but because it was a powerful reminder that the small moments matter... The conversations, the encouragement, the listening ear, the consistent support, and simply showing up. So often, we don't realize the impact we have until much later. We may wonder if our efforts are making a difference, but growth has a way of revealing itself when we least expect it. This moment reminded me of my "why" and reinforced something I believe deeply: people thrive when they have someone who believes in them, walks alongside them, and reminds them of their worth.β -Lexie
