So took a nice break from the modeling and sculpting and went out to the first annual Grand Prairie (Tx) Irish Festival. Some nice booths, a fine ‘pub crawl’, and I have to say, a subtle nod to traditional Irish music (ok, none whatsoever), and their interpretation of Irish step dancing was, er, original.

Work continues on the 76mm T-26. It’s a nice little kit but a number of things can be improved, principally the rubber band tracks. To that end I got some OKG resin tracks (fantastic quality) and combined them with some 3-D printed wheels. This was a major hassle, trying to get everything to line up and gluing down the track sag. It’s definitely not perfect, lol. I’ve since found some complete wheel and track assemblies, 3-D printed, with, albeit, limited sag. The track quality is not quite so good but the time and sanity saving will be so worth it!
Another distinctive aspect of the T-26 is the way the track guard is attached to the chassis. It’s not represented too well in the kit so I redid it in green stuff. Probably not the best way to do it but I’m used to working with it, so…
Various other over-scale parts were thinned, most notably the gun shield.
Still quite a lot to do, (redo a bunch of rivets for instance) and the big decision will be to add winter white wash or not.

My current personal project is a 1/72 kit. The box art of this Russian tank appealed because of its uniqueness and also the potential to sculpt crew in action poses.
It's a 76mm naval gun mounted onto the chassis of a T-26, an improvised expedient thrown together early in the war during the siege of Leningrad.
The first obstacle was to find a photo of the thing. There seemed to be a number of what I thought was the correct vehicle at first, but actually turned out to be a different version (the crisp photo below). The configuration of the platform and the actual gun shield are different. After a lot of internet hunting I found only one blurry image of this one, below. Oh well.
It's a small tricky kit, and some research on the T-26 has shown a few inaccuracies, but it's a fun plunge back into model building after many years.

From an old version of the game "All quiet on the Martian Front", a 15mm chainsaw wielding chap and a tractor with removable armored cab. This was an improvised vehicle thrown together to defend against the Martians. A game set in the early 20th century. Have to admit, a model like this is much more suited to 3D design and printing - I much prefer sculpting people.
I'm not sure if the new version of the game has been released yet.

Happy New Year from Silurian Games - which is me, my lovely and inspirational wife, and a bunch of, er, helpful felines.
Here's to a productive, healthy and fun 2026!

What with the anniversary coming up next year it’s probably a good time to dust off the 15mm Revolutionary War range. These have languished for a few years with a few cast up and a bunch partially sculpted.
Here are some militia at rest. They’ve been stuck on their corks for probably a year or so, forgotten, poor sods.

OK, more teddys! This time the officers and later war helmets. A bit of work had to be done on the older sculpts to decapitate them so we could have alternative heads. Only thing left to do in this range (and to honest, I'm not sure whether it will come about at all) are pilots for some biplanes.
We will certainly be doing a range of teds in way more fancy Napoleonic uniforms though.

I didn't get the best pictures of these, but after the furry infantry I sculpted some cavalry for the teddy bears. These are hobby-horses with one of my favorite animated films supplying inspiration for the heads...
The heads (teds and horses) and arms are seperate. There are lance/flag arms also.
Officers were the final set for this range (done juuuust in time for Historican this summer, phew). I'll post pictures of them next.

One of my recent projects has been to sculpt some 28mm teddy bears. The current range are dressed in WWI uniforms but the plan is to do American Revolutionary and Napoleonic ranges soon. The idea is to have a limited number of poses but a good variety of uniforms. The uniforms are going to be pretty accurate (I hope) but there'll be some extra fun stuff added - like some terrible national stereotype stuff on the WWI cuddlies!

Right, time to resurrect this old page. It was hacked and stolen from me a while ago with the loss of a lot of content into which I had poured much love and effort. That was quite a downer but I think I have built up enough enthusiasm to start again.
So, what's the purpose? Just to have fun and document the various projects I'm working on. Maybe get some comments and critique - if I ever get beyond the stage where I'm just talking to myself!
Quick recap. The name. It encompasses many of my passions - geology/palaeontology, Dr. Who and my love of Wales. And hey, perhaps if I ever get around to producing and selling anything for myself it'll be the name of my business!
