Welcome Wes DeVries as September’s exhibiting artist! Fluent with acrylics, Grand Rapids artist Wes DeVries creates paintings that are richly built-up in many layers. He creates a beautiful narrative with an illusion of 3D space, which draws the viewer into his world. He is never tied down to traditional implements and uses unusual tools including expired credit cards.

DeVries started to appreciate art of all forms in high school and loved the smell of linseed oil every time he visited his grandpa’s studio. He studied art in high school and in community classes from the early 1980s through the 1990s and the 2000s. He started to teach workshops at Forest Hills Community. Grand Valley Artists and the ranciscan Center. He is also involved with Artists Creating Together in Grand Rapids and as a member of Grand Valley Artists for the last five years.
