This fabulous solid teak-framed sofa by Folke Ohlsson for Dux just landed in our store.
Upholstered in a warm, textured tweed and styled with coordinating pillows, it brings both comfort and timeless Scandinavian character to the room.
Known for his patented "knock-down" construction, Ohlsson came to the United States in the 1950s with a suitcase, a scale model of his product, and a dream of becoming a household name. He accomplished exactly that: at his peak in 1955, the Dux line was sold in all 50 states and was among the first featured exhibits at Stanford's art museum. Ohlsson's contributions to furniture design, production, and transportation helped pave the way for companies like IKEA.

In the early 1950s, Florence Knoll gave artist Harry Bertoia free rein to create something he felt would contribute to Knoll’s design legacy. Using welded steel rods and metal wire, Bertoia transformed space, form, and structure into a single flowing composition. Between 1950 and 1951, he experimented with lattice forms that gave the chair a visually weightless appearance while still conforming to the human body. His primary goal was to find grace and movement in industrial materials, elevating metal into both functional furniture and collectible art.

Produced continuously since its official introduction in 1953, Bertoia’s design now has a lasting legacy, and his work has been crucial to the progression of mid-century modern furniture.

Y’all, check out this new (to us) Lucite bar with a chrome footrest and a sturdy black wood-block bartop, all wrapped up in a super sleek Lucite frame with minimal yet visible hardware. It is very much inspired by Luigi Bardini’s Illuminating Lucite Bar and the fabulous 70’s moment when Lucite was a cheap and effective way to be glamorous, airy, space-saving, and just a little futuristic. Born out of post-war manufacturing and fully embraced by the disco age, the clear acrylic fit right in with the glossy, modern, space-age look that rounded out the space-age era soon after!
Even with its nontraditional bartop, this piece still makes quite a statement. It’s a seriously glamorous pick for that bare space in your most frequented places.

We just put out TWO drafting tables in the entrance of our showroom. This one felt like it rightfully deserved its own post. This one, particularly, was designed and built by the UofM School of Engineering. It features two different table sizes in one, just as we received it, and it’s clearly been well loved and well used. It deserves a new life filled with designs and concepts born from its place in your home or studio.

Though its overall appearance impresses, the mechanics are truly something to admire. A spinning wheel engages the heavy industrial gears for vertical lifting and lowering, while the top rests on freely moving brackets. Though aged and loved, the mechanics and table itself are in pristine condition!

Florence Knoll has returned in a BIG way!

The iconic Florence Knoll Relaxed sofa, typically a five-figure investment, has arrived on the Lost & Found floor! Freshly reupholstered in a soft almond tone, this channel-back beauty looks practically brand new. With a silhouette like this, it’s the kind of piece that leaves a lasting mark for decades to come.

Florence Knoll was a renowned American architect, designer, and visionary behind Knoll. Her eye helped redefine what American lounging looked like in the 1950s. She originally worked as a consultant under Hans Knoll and married into the company (and the man) three years later. She later led the planning unit until Hans’s passing in 1955, then stepped into the role of company president before retiring ten years later.

Widdicomb by T.H. Robsjohn Gibbings

This 8-drawer dresser is almost more functional than handsome — close, but not quite. If you’re looking for mid-century style without the intricate detailing, this is likely the perfect fit for you and your home!

The famed British architect/designer and manufacturer collaboration produced a large number of pieces over the 13 years they partnered (1943–1956), unintentionally revolutionizing the shift from historical elegance toward the post-war modernity we know and love under the Mid-Century Modern umbrella. Due to the timing, the partnership was very influential and revolutionized the way people furnished their homes during the highly successful post-war housing boom.
