It’s finally happening—our soft opening day is here!

We are so excited and ready to welcome all our friends into the book shop (Our signage has yet to arrive, but we're making due with what we have).

As you head over, here is exactly where you can find parking:

- Directly in Front: 3 spaces directly in front of our building.
- Rear: Parking in the back, accessible through the construction area off of Stevens Street.
- Across the Street: Very temporary parking is available in the storage unit lot.

Come on in, check out the stocked shelves, and help us celebrate. We can't wait to see you! We're open today until 7:00 PM. Another side note as we're trying to work out all our kinks, we're only able to accept cash, Venmo, or PayPal this weekend. Thank you for understanding.

We have some exciting news to share from inside the shop. The heavy lifting is done, and our brand-new shelves are officially assembled!

Right now, we are busy unboxing, sorting, and putting books onto the shelves. Every spine is finding its new home, and the room finally looks and feels like a real bookstore.

We are also thrilled to announce the details for our upcoming soft launch! Everyone is welcome, no invitation needed! Come visit us and check out our progress during our temporary hours:

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 11:00 am to 7:00 pm

Hello Everyone!

First things first, we want to sincerely apologize for the radio silence since the 4th of July! We have been working non-stop behind the scenes getting the store completely ready to finally welcome you all in.

In the spirit of being completely transparent with our amazing community, we do have a bittersweet update to share. Unfortunately, we recently ran into some legalities regarding our naming rights. Despite operating as The Last Chapter for the past five years, we are required to rebrand in order to continue doing what we love and operating smoothly.

Moving forward, we will officially be conducting business as The Gathered Shelf!

While we are sad to close the book on The Last Chapter, we are happily embracing The Gathered Shelf and everything this next phase brings. Please rest assured that it is entirely business as usual for us! The only difference is that from today onward, all correspondence will be coming from The Gathered Shelf. You will soon see our official page, social media handles, and this private group update to match the new name.

We cannot express how endlessly grateful we are for every single one of you who likes, follows, and has joined our private buying group. Thank you so much for your support and for your incredible patience as we navigate the hurdles of this store opening.

Speaking of opening, we are thrilled to announce that we will officially be hosting a soft opening on Friday, July 24th! If you received a Free Book Postcard, we highly encourage you to come check out the space, say hello, and grab your free book!

And lastly, onto some more exciting news: a HUGE overhaul of book bundles will be posted over in the group tomorrow morning! Make sure to keep an eye out for those to grab some amazing deals in the meantime.

Happy Independence Day! Happy 250th Birthday, America! 🇺🇸

Allow us to officially (re)introduce ourselves: we are Troy and Julia, the proud owners of The Last Chapter! We are so incredibly excited to meet everyone and become a bigger part of this amazing community.

​To celebrate America's monumental milestone today, we are hitting the streets! We will be catching everyone at the East Grand Rapids 4th of July Parade today, and heading over to the Grandville Fireworks tonight!

​As we get closer and closer to our grand opening (the exact date is still TBD, but we promise it's coming soon!), we want to celebrate by giving you a gift. We will be handing out FREE BOOK postcards to our future readers!

Keep your eyes peeled! If you are the very FIRST person to spot us at the East Grand Rapids 4th of July Parade or tonight at the Grandville Fireworks AND you mention this post, come say hi and you will receive a special prize!

​A fresh coat of paint changes everything. We just finished painting the entire space, and the vibe is completely shifting. Next up on the master plan: flooring!

​It’s a lot of work, but we’re getting closer to the finish line every day. Who wants to come help lay some floors next week? (Just kidding... unless? 👀)
