You’ve seen where we’ve been. Now come see where we’re going🎄

For years, Holiday at The Shop has been a labor of love. A little inspiration here, a vintage find there, a few ambitious ideas that somehow turn into entire rooms.

But this year? We came with a plan.

Actual architectural drawings. For Christmas.

We’ve been working on Holiday 2026 since January. Traveling, sourcing, reimagining our showroom, designing custom installations, and dreaming up ways to make this year something special.

& behind it all is a team that’s spent months planning, receiving, unpacking, building, moving, styling, and occasionally questioning our sanity.

But here’s the thing.

We don’t do all this just to create a beautiful store. We do it to create an experience.

The kind that brings friends together. That becomes a family tradition. That makes you wander a little longer, discover something unexpected, and maybe even feel like a kid again.

As Leyla shared in her recent blog, Christmas isn’t supposed to be perfect. It’s supposed to make you feel something.
& that’s why we do it.

A few favorite memories from years past, a little peek behind the scenes of 2026, and a whole lot we’re not quite ready to show you yet.

Holiday 2025. One word: EXTRA 🎄

After years of experimenting, creating, and finding our holiday rhythm, we started noticing something.

Nostalgia was making a comeback.

The traditional, Christmas-morning, feels-like-you’re-a-kid-again kind of magic.

& apparently, you were craving it just as much as we were.

So we went all in. More trees. More ornaments. More holiday treasures. Our largest and most diverse collection yet, with a whole lot of Christmas packed into every corner of The Shop.

& you noticed. We kept hearing the same thing: this was our best Holiday yet.

Which was wonderful to hear.

And also presented one very important question…

How on earth do we top THAT?

Well, we’ve been working on the answer since January.

Holiday 2026 is almost here, and let’s just say we haven’t exactly been sitting around 😉

Holiday 2024. The year I fell in love with a vintage Christmas tree sign that wasn’t even for sale. 🎄

I spotted it at Round Top and knew I had to have it. One small problem? The owner wasn’t selling it.

Naturally, that wasn’t the end of the conversation. 😂

After a little convincing, the sign made its way to The Shop, where we had a custom stand built and created an entire Christmas tree lot around it.

& just like that, one vintage find became the inspiration for something much bigger.

Looking back, 2024 was a turning point for Holiday at The Shop. Our displays became more elaborate, the Christmas collection started taking center stage, and what we’d been creating year after year was evolving into something all its own.

The best part? We were still just getting started.

Next up in our trip down memory lane: Holiday 2025. & let’s just say things took another leap forward.

A little trip down memory lane… starting with Holiday 2023.

This was the year we had some BIG ideas and, well, let’s just say we were figuring things out as we went.

It started with a vintage birdhouse that inspired an entire creative direction. Our lighting gallery became a Parisian café, Christina brought the drama with oversized floral installations, and a vintage fireplace from Round Top found its moment in The Shop.

Did we have it all figured out? Not even close 😂 But somehow, all those ideas came together into something pretty magical.

& a few details were too good to leave behind. That red banquette from our lighting gallery? Let’s just say you might recognize it again this year 😉

Looking back, it’s pretty incredible to see how far we’ve come. Every year we’ve pushed ourselves a little further, dreamed a little bigger, and found new ways to bring the holidays to life.

And 2026? Well, you’ll just have to wait and see.

We’re taking you through Holiday 2024 and 2025 next, before unveiling what we’ve been working on this year.

I’ve been thinking about Christmas for 10 months. And after EIGHT years of doing this, I’m starting to question my sanity. 🎄😂

I wrote a little something about what it REALLY takes to create Christmas at The Shop. The good, the bad, the ridiculous, and a confession about Christmas at my own house that might surprise you.

Read my Christmas confession: https://theshopbydsi.com/blogs/blog/christmas-at-the-shop-a-little-magic-a-lot-of-madness

Here’s a little preview...

Every January, I’m at market planning Christmas. By June, the boxes start arriving. By October, we’ve redrawn the entire store, recruited what feels like half of Granite Bay, and turned our team into a full-blown North Pole operation.

We’re working seven days a week, running multiple shifts, climbing ladders, building displays, unpacking what feels like 10 million ornaments, and occasionally questioning my sanity.

And yes, most of this is my fault.

But behind all the chaos is a team of incredible people who pour their hearts into creating something special for our community.

Because for me, Christmas at The Shop has never been just about decorations. It’s about how Christmas makes you feel.

And on October 24th, we finally get to share that feeling with all of you.

❤️ Leyla

P.S. If you see me wandering around the store talking to myself between now and October 24th, just keep walking. It’s fine. Everything’s fine. 😂

We need floor space for Holiday. You get the markdowns. And we mean BIG markdowns.

Now through October 10, we’re making room for an our holiday launch (Oct 24) with major markdowns on select in-stock furniture.

Look for the neon tags throughout The Shop 👀

If it’s tagged, it’s part of the Flash Sale.

Most pieces are one-of-one. Once it’s gone, it’s gone.

See something you love? Save it. Send it to someone who needs to see it. Then come claim it before someone else does.

And if you’ve been through a Holiday transformation with us before, you know exactly why we need the room🎄

If you haven’t? Join us October 24th 10am-5pm.

If you’ve been in The Shop lately, you may have noticed the main floor is looking a little… empty.

We’re moving + grooving + making room over here.

Because before we can deck the halls for Christmas… we need a little room to do it.

And if you’re wondering where all the good stuff is going 〰️ nowhere far. 😉 All of the product is making its way into our inventory shelving, where you can still shop business as usual.

We know, we know. It’s not even Halloween yet. 😂 But we’ve been prepping for the holidays since January!!!

& in order to make that space, we’re marking down some of our favorite in-stock furniture + vintage pieces. 👀

Hint, hint… Flash Sale.

I thought I knew what “Made in China” looked like.

After years of working with furniture, I came here expecting to see far more automation.

🫶🏻 Instead, I keep seeing hands.

Hands weaving. Shaping wood. Sewing seams. Sanding curves. Assembling frames. Finishing pieces one step at a time.

What I didn’t expect was just how much of the furniture we’ve seen still depends on individual skill and craftsmanship.

There was one moment in particular that stopped me: watching a chair being woven by hand. The speed and precision make it look almost effortless—until you realize how much skill is required to do it that well.

And once you see the human hand behind a piece, you look at the finished product differently.

This trip started as a search for new possibilities for The Shop.

But I’m realizing there is another story here, too. One about the people, skills and processes behind the pieces we live with every day.

👀 And after what I saw today, I have a feeling we’ve only scratched the surface.

More on that soon!! 🇨🇳

So, why China?

I came looking for new possibilities for The Shop: unique pieces, greater control over what we offer and opportunities to bring better value to our customers.

A few days in, the why is becoming even clearer.

There’s only so much you can learn about furniture from a photograph, catalog or trade show floor. Being here means going further. Meeting the people who make it – who are amazing BTW. Visiting factories and showrooms. Seeing materials and construction firsthand. Opening drawers. Inspecting finishes. And asking a lot of questions via Google Translate and ChatGPT of course :)

I’m also learning quickly that not every stop will lead to something I bring home.

That’s part of the point and my personal challenge. The feeling of being overwhelmed and unsuccessful when I do not like to lose.

This isn’t about finding the cheapest furniture or replacing the incredible partners we already know and love. It’s about expanding how we source, discovering new makers and finding pieces we haven’t seen before.

Because when something eventually makes its way from here to our floor in Granite Bay, we want to know more than what it looks like.

We want to know what’s behind it.

And we’re just getting started. 🇨🇳
