Due to the number of calls and messages about the current NFA case we would like to clarify a few things.

A federal NFA case does not automatically make NFA items legal in Illinois. Federal law and Illinois law are separate layers.

Even if a federal court strikes down or limits an NFA restriction, Illinois’ own fi****ms laws can still prohibit particular items.

Now for the better news. On June 30, 2026, the U.S. Supreme Court agreed to hear Viramontes v. Cook County, a major Second Amendment case testing whether the Constitution protects the right to own AR-15 and similar semi-automatic rifles.

What does that mean for us? This case would affect the current proceedings for Illinois PICA (assault weapons ban). Our case could be brought before the court with the current scheduled case or could be brought up separately.

The Viramontes case should be settled by the end of the upcoming SCOTUS session.
