Candle care post!!
I believe that proper candle care isn’t common knowledge but it is very important when buying and using candles for quality and safety.
• First thing to know is that soy candles have memory so you should always burn the candle until the entire top is melted but no longer that 4 hours at a time, not burning long enough will cause issues with burning the candle again and burning too long causes issues with the wick, it causes soot and color change in the wax and unsafe situation for the candle glass vessel (too hot for too long)
• many people don’t know how short to cut a wick (it’s a lot shorter than you think) if you do not trim the wick short enough it causes black smoke, soot in the candle wax and can cause the candle wick to curl in on itself and get trapped in the wax.
• the first picture explains how short to trim the wick, the second picture is how it looks when lit for a little bit (10 min) after a good trim and the last shows what happens after a very long burn (6+ hours) and why you should trim before you light the candle each time. Trimming the wick also helps the candle burn slower (smaller flame) and always burn on a safe surface away from animals and children and away from flammable items (anything hanging above the candle) such as curtains or bedding.
Candle safety is very important and can help maintain the quality of your candle 🌙 🕯
