In both versions of "Wait a Minute!" (the Bedtime Story AND the Illustrated novella) there is a playful naivete, childlike innocence, yet intelligent, rhythming to his words that puts my mind at ease and has honestly cured my insomnia.
It's obvious Steve must truly audition every word before they land on his pages. His books are carefully written scripts complete with the setup, timing and punchlines, only a stand-up comedian, with a heart of gold, could produce. You can tell this is a nice man; a kid at heart, who has a real connection with your children. He speaks their language. If you want to laugh a little (giggles count), and sleep a lot, buy these books! Gentle, deep yawns await you. Keep these books under your pillow for safe keeping and ready reference."

Every line of Wait a Minute!—is a playful misdirection and a sense of 'leg-pulling' that makes his books a joy to read. He even has bloopers/outtakes in two of his illustrated novellas (Wait A Minute) and (My Favorite Place to Be) and they are hilarious. While Stevie books are perfect for children, the witty rhythming has actually helped me overcome my insomnia as an adult. It’s rare to find an author who can make you chuckle and feel completely at peace at the same time."
