A little update from our family and NorthGoods.
For now, NorthGoods will be closed indefinitely as we focus on helping our son navigate the return of his seizures.
He began having seizures as a toddler, and after a difficult journey, we found the therapeutic ketogenic diet. For him, it worked miracles, and he went on to live seizure-free for many years.
Then came puberty. Puberty has a wild way of stirring things up, and unfortunately, we find ourselves here again.
We know our son and we know what has helped him before. Now weโre figuring out what this next chapter looks like and searching for a wonderful neurologist who specializes in epilepsy and truly listens to patients and families. If you have a recommendation locally or within reasonable driving distance, weโd love to hear it.
If youโve noticed our shop hours becoming increasingly limited this year, this is why. Behind NorthGoods is simply a family, and right now our family needs more of us than the shop does.
Our son is strong, funny, independent, incredibly capable and so much more than his seizures. This latest incident was eye-opening for all of us and reminded us that sometimes being strong also means slowing down, making changes and letting the people who love you take care of you.
We arenโt sharing this for pity or sympathy, simply for understanding and transparency.
NorthGoods isnโt disappearing. We hope to have occasional pop-up hours throughout the season and will always post when we do. Our online shop will also remain open through the link in our bio, and every order means more than you know.
For now, our focus is family, consistency and giving our son the time and space he needs to heal.
Small businesses change because the lives behind them change.
This is simply the season weโre in.
Thank you for giving us the grace to choose our family right now.
