For the first time since it was been rebuilt, Grass Valley’s skate park saw a skate contest last Saturday, September 19, and there was plenty of fun to be had.

The 23rd Annual Grass Valley Skate Contest went off this past Saturday, and is definitely one for the books! Saturday brought more participants than we’ve ever seen, so a huge thank you to all the skaters that came out and absolutely destroyed our new Grindline Skateparks. Another big thank you to all of our sponsors, we couldn’t do this without all of your support. A big shout out to 𝕀ℝ𝕀𝕊 𝕊𝕂𝔸𝕋𝔼𝔹𝕆𝔸ℝ𝔻𝕊 for making sick trophies once again. Thank you JB at Academy Snowboard Company and Tahoe Taffy for coming out and sponsoring Best Trick in the Gold Pan and giving out Taffy to the kids. Thank you Matt Casper at Vans Skateboarding for coming out again and giving out shoes and accessories to the participants. Thank you Chris Roach from Flojoyh2o for keeping everyone hydrated throughout the day! Thank you ROB COLLINSON from LowcardMag for making the trek from The City, sponsoring the event, bringing the good vibes, and judging the Best Trick contests with John Worthington / jworth glass and zachmp79543, as well as making a sick edit of the day! A HUGE shout out to our awesome judges Antonius Stavous Dintcho Gus Coronel and Sean Sanford! The skating was sooo good and these dudes had to somehow judge all the sickness that went down. Thanks to our friends at hypeicedtea for coming out and making sure nobody went thirsty. Thank you to our incredibly amazing registration staff Mellissa Jarrette Lovie Bucknell Heidi Askew and Cassie! A huge shout out to julie ahern for crushing it at the raffle booth. Jesse prim stepped up to DJ and absolutely knocked it out of the park with sick skate classics all day. Mikey Gower BBQ’d once again for everyone…so a HUGE shout out to him! Emile Gaston Janicot slayed it once again on the mic, keeping everyone entertained and bringing the hype! A huge thank you to anyone that helped with set-up, tare down, and cleaning up the park. Thank you to all of you that took photos and have been sharing them with the community. A big THANK YOU to Mike Henry for taking these incredible photos!! We’ve got more of them to come. And of course a big shout out and thank you to Sam Anderson!! None of these events would happen without him. And THANK YOU to our awesome skate community! Much ❤️

Guess what?! We have some PRO SKATERS coming to Colfax Skatepark Opening Day!

We are incredibly excited to announce that iconic professional skateboarder Mike McGill and standout local pro John Worthington, who rides for Independent Trucks and Creature Skateboards, will be joining us for the celebration!

Both Mike and John will be skating the new park, putting on demos, hanging out with the community, and signing autographs. This is going to make an already special opening day even more unforgettable.

I’m truly honored and privileged that both of these guys are taking the time to come out and help us celebrate something our community has worked so hard to make a reality.

Tomorrow is the big contest day and we can not wait! A huge shout out to all of our sponsors. Mikey Gower will be cooking hotdogs once again for everyone, and Flojoyh2o will be providing drinks again, as well. We’ve got sick trophies once again from 𝕀ℝ𝕀𝕊 𝕊𝕂𝔸𝕋𝔼𝔹𝕆𝔸ℝ𝔻𝕊, including a Best Hammer trophy for best trick on the Rail/Hubba, Euro section. A HUGE Shout out to Academy Snowboard Company for kicking down a snowboard for Best Trick in the Gold Pan! Thank you so much!! Definitely bring chairs if you’re planning on hanging out for a while, and carpool if you can. Also a big shout out to our judges, Gus Coronel Sean Sanford and Antonius Stavous Dintcho. And John Worthington / jworth glass should be around to help with Best Trick judging, and of course some after shredding. Hope to see you all tomorrow!
