We just found out about Montana History Fest 2026 and we wanted to make sure you knew about it, too. It takes place in Helena, Wednesday through Saturday, June 24 -27. There are lots of fun events and music at venues throughout the city. We have schedules and stickers (yay! free stickers!) at the store. Come by and pick some up, and hope you can make it to Helena next weekend.

AAUW collection at the library is back on til October :)

AAUW will begin collection for their annual Used Book Sale next week! The first collection day will be Tuesday June 9 from 10 am to 2 pm in the library entrance in the alley. Collection will continue until the first week in October, a week or so before the sale begins.

From Laurie Glover, AAUW volunteer, "We love both hardback and paperback books in good condition, games, jigsaw puzzles, printed and CD music, movies, talking books, and records. We don’t accept encyclopedias, old textbooks, Readers Digest Condensed Books, magazines (except antique or Montana themed) or items in poor or dirty condition."

We'll have raffle baskets of books, swag, a 50/50, and live music courtesy of Rob Kohler. So come drink great beer, eat great food, listen to great music, and support the Montana Bookstore Trail!

We just got our summer issues of Montana Quarterly. This month's issue has an article by Amy Grisak on century old irrigation systems in Montana that shift mountain snowmelt to irrigated fields and wildlife habitat, and great reviews of poet Charles Finn's most recent collection, A Mountain's Idea of Time; historian Catherine Melin-Moser's When Montana Outraced the East: The Reign of Western Thoroughbreds, 1886-1990; and fiction author Matt Pavelich's collection of short stories, But Tell It Slant: Fierce Fictions.

There's lots of great stuff in this issue, including the fiction and non-fiction writings of the Big Snowy Prize winners. Come check it out!
