We’re an all-volunteer group inspired by prison book initiatives around the country, which have come into being during a massive increase in imprisonment since the late twentieth century. We distribute books to contribute to the education, entertainment and support of incarcerated people. We recognize that educational programs and libraries in prisons are severely limited or lacking. It is important to us to open up lines of communication between incarcerated people and people outside the walls, and to deepen our understanding of both the causes and effects of the rapid expansion of mass incarceration in recent decades. Ultimately, we believe in the possibility of a world without prisons, where no one profits from anyone else’s misery, and where everyone in our community has their needs met and the opportunity to develop their potential in any way they desire.

Heads up!

We send A LOT of composition books to folks on the inside. And now is a great time for us to get them! If you're able, please consider helping us out by picking up a few at back-to-school prices.

Tonight Tonight Tonight!!

On Thursday, July 16, there will be a film screening of "Woman at War" at the Last Ditch bar and venue in Greenfield to benefit Great Falls Books Through Bars, organized by a supporter of GFBTB.

-Afterwards there will be an open discussion about the film, about GFBTB, or just hanging out!

-Doors 7pm, film 7:30pm. All ages.

$10, no one turned away for lack of funds.
