Monday took a toll on me physically, mentally, and emotionally. I wanted to take a breather before responding to this message. My friends also came to my defense when I needed a break. Thank you 💕
I am not sure what was supposed to be gained from your response on Ariel’s page. Am I supposed to feel bad that Stephanie got a 10 year sentence because she has been sober since the accident? Being sober for a year and a half does not equal recovery or transformation when under legal requirements to do so, by alcohol monitoring and house arrest.
I would like to think that if Stephanie has made the recovery you describe she wouldn’t be proud of you promoting her on the page of a child she almost killed and is now forced to live a life of chronic PAIN, cognitive deficits, and missed opportunity to say the least.
I was notified of this court date at 1038 am on Monday. It gave us 5 hours to rearrange our day and notify anyone that could be there.
Stephanie’s side of the courtroom obviously had plenty of notice.
Her attorney didn’t allow some of the pictures that I brought to show the judge.
Ariel’s side wasn’t given the information or opportunity to submit letters from friends and family to explain how Ariel has changed like Stephanie’s did.
As I said in court… it doesn’t feel like remorse from Stephanie when she asked for her alcohol monitoring to be removed. I don’t care that it costs $22 a month. I am happy to compare bills anytime. It also doesn’t feel like remorse when it took Stephanie a year and a half to FINALLY plead. I wanted to go to trial!!! Which would have given her 15 years. Unfortunately, the prosecutor disagreed.
The fact of the matter is there will never be justice for Ariel! There is NO amount of good deeds, prison time, money, or transformation from Stephanie that will give my daughter back what she has lost. Maybe I will post my victim impact statement sometime because I have mostly shared Ariel’s wins here. I have rarely shared the ugly things she has to deal with.
Thankfully the judge heard my cry and saw Ariel’s tears!
I will continue to pray for Stephanie and her children but I don’t feel bad!
