Forest of Eden Presents: The Mobile Farmers Market
One preorder. Multiple local businesses. Thursday doorstep delivery.
Honeynut Squash is finally here.
And this is your one and only Forest of Eden chance to try it.
Honeynut Squash — $4 per bag
1–2 squash per bag
Honeynut is the gourmet personal-size answer to butternut squash: small enough to make for one meal, but packed with concentrated sweetness and rich squash flavor.
Roast it until the flesh becomes soft and the natural sugars begin to caramelize, then add butter and salt, honey or maple, warm spices, herbs, or nothing at all.
It also makes excellent soup, mash, stuffed squash, grain bowls, and side dishes.
And here is the important part:
Forest of Eden will NOT be growing Honeynut again next year.
This is our first Honeynut harvest, and this season will be your only opportunity to get it from us.
If you have ever wanted to try one of these little gourmet squash, now is the time.
The Golden Heat of Peru has arrived too.
Aji Amarillo Peppers — $4 per bag
We already have four bags harvested, and they are beginning to come in strongly, but I currently expect fewer than 10 bags for Thursday.
Aji Amarillo is one of the foundational peppers of Peruvian cooking. It combines moderate heat with a distinctly fruity, bright pepper flavor.
Use it for sauces, marinades, pepper pastes, chicken, potatoes, rice, seafood, stews, or any recipe where you want more than generic pepper heat.
And the Picolino abundance continues.
Picolino F1 Mini Cucumbers — $4 per bag
Round 1 and Round 2 production are still overlapping, which means the $4 bags remain substantially larger than normal.
Same price. More cucumber.
These are crisp, tender-skinned mini snacking cucumbers harvested around 4–6 inches. No peeling required. Eat them whole, use them with dip, slice them into salads and sandwiches, or make quick refrigerator pickles.
Also available this week:
Summer Thrills & Frills — $4
Mrs. Burns’ Lemon Basil — $4
Siam Queen Thai Basil — $4
Gochujang King Hybrid Peppers — $4
Sugar Rush Peach Peppers — $4
Jimmy Nardello’s Sweet Italian Frying Peppers — $4
Shish*to Peppers — $4
Red Ajvarski Peppers — $4
Music and Georgian Fire Hardneck Garlic are still available too.
Culinary garlic — $4 per bag
Seed garlic — $8 per bag
Forest of Eden will not be growing garlic next year, so if you want Music or Georgian Fire for your kitchen or want planting stock to keep the varieties going yourself, get them while they are still here.
And this week’s Mobile Market partner picks:
Harvestlight Gardens:
Chef’s Reserve Traditional Balsamic Vinegar — $25
This is a thick, full-bodied balsamic reduction with rich sweet-and-tangy flavor.
This week, I would put it straight over roasted Honeynut squash.
It is also excellent with roasted Red Ajvarski and Jimmy Nardello peppers, vegetables, cheese, grilled meat, fruit, or bread.
Harvestlight bottles are 8.5 fl oz, $25 each or mix and match any two for $48.
Roll & Reverence by Brown Sugar Flavor LLC:
Jalapeño & Cheddar Sourdough — $17
Fresh handmade sourdough loaded with savory cheddar and jalapeño character.
Toast it, warm it with butter, serve it with soup or chili, or turn it into one serious sandwich.
Dale’s Honey Biz:
Wildflower Honey — featured this week.
Use it on biscuits, toast, oatmeal, yogurt, tea—or drizzle it over that roasted Honeynut squash.
Jams And Jellies R Us LLC:
Mango Salsa — $16 per pint
Bright, fruity, savory, and a natural partner for an Aji Amarillo week. Use it with chips, grilled chicken, fish, tacos, or rice bowls.
The full Jams & Jellies R Us catalog is also available to preorder.
All Mobile Market partner products are ordered this week for delivery next Thursday.
Delivery is $4, free on orders over $20, or free when five or more households in the same neighborhood order.
