Dan Chow’s works are featured in this month’s show, Close to Home. The opening reception is this Friday, September 11 from 5 to 8 PM in conjunction with the Wilmington Art Loop. We hope you’ll come out and see them in person.

Our exhibition this month welcomes another new artist, Neelam Padte. These are just a few of her works. Please stop into the gallery to see these, as well as the rest of her works in person.

“I express my emotions, illusions, and thoughts through painting. My landscapes reflect the essence of nature as I see or imagine it. Using a limited palette, I keep the composition simple, focusing on the balance of color, value, and texture.

Born in Mumbai, India, and raised in an environment surrounded by artists and musicians, Neelam Padte discovered her creative spirit at an early age. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from the University of Mumbai before emigrating to the United States in 1984.

Her paintings invite viewers into spaces of calm, reflection, and contemplation. Through luminous color, subtle textures, and expressive movement, Neelam creates tranquil environments that encourage a pause from the pace of everyday life. Collectors often describe her work as peaceful, meditative, and emotionally uplifting—paintings that offer not only beauty, but also a sense of stillness and renewal.”

We are excited to welcome Kathy Ruck to this month’s “Close to Home” exhibit. These are just some of the works you will have the opportunity to see in person when you stop into the gallery. All of her works are also available to view on our website. The show is on view starting this Friday, Sept 4 and runs through September.

“Creating a painting feels magical to me – how an artist’s vision, some pigment and paper combine to become a work of art, and I feel blessed to be able to make this my life’s work. I strive with my art to capture a fleeting moment of beauty. Whether it is the way a tree or the water catches the sunlight or the softness of a flower petal, my subject matter can vary, but with the common thread of bringing joy to the viewer. I work in a realist style, and hope to create paintings that make you feel you are there, relax your mind and lift your spirits.

I feel there is no greater compliment to my work than someone wanting it to be part of their home.”
