“There are some strong seeds of creative worldbuilding that can power future series entries, especially the ideas of magical abilities emerging from virus exposure in the womb and an American landscape torn between pockets of high technology and nature’s post-devastation regrowth. The author’s knowledge of ranching comes through well, and journal entries from the pre-COVID-50 era deepen the narrative. A solidly satisfying ending builds to a strong hook for the sequel.

Takeaway: Surprising urban fantasy of feds, vampires, and Atlanta 150 years in the future.”

Sun. Surf. Relaxation.
With a weekend vacation stretching out before her, the last thing on Kelsey’s mind is a fling. But one look at Conner—a dashing red-haired Brit—and she’s caught in a magnetic pull she can’t explain or resist.

As they explore the intoxicating heat between them, Kelsey and Conner toy with the idea of making this more than a weekend tryst. Unfortunately, before they commit themselves to one another, a treacherous car wreck tears them apart. But this was no accident. It was a warning—from the all-powerful beings Conner answers to. He disobeyed a direct order, and his insubordination will not be tolerated. Driven by his growing desire for Kelsey, he makes the only choice he believes will keep her safe… and walks away.

He thought distance would shield her from the truth. Instead, it descends on the swift wings of archangels. Immortal beings don’t just exist—they move unseen, as close as the halls of Kelsey’s own hospital. And now she’s caught in a world she was never meant to see.

When the truth comes to light, will covenants older than mankind force Conner and Kelsey apart? Or will the strength of their soul bond withstand the ultimate forces of light… and brimstone?
