Make a card, make a student's day! 💌

We’re adding a little extra love to this year’s School Supply Drive. Along with all the back-to-school essentials, we’re inviting our community to make handmade cards for students attending Colorado Treatment Facility Schools. These students are navigating significant emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges, and a kind note can be a powerful reminder that they are seen, supported, and cheered on by their community.

So grab your markers and help us send every student into the school year with supplies in their backpack and encouragement in their heart! 💜

If you’re interested in helping kids in need, consider donating to this school supply drive!

🐾 Be Bear Aware in Western Greenwood Village 🐾

Multiple recent sightings of a large black bear have been reported in western Greenwood Village—including near Cherryville Road, Cherry Lane Road, Franklin Road, the Greenwood Pines neighborhood, and east of University by the Highline Canal. Please stay alert and aware in these areas.

If you spot the bear, report it to South Metro Denver Colorado Parks and Wildlife at 303-291-7227 and select Option 5 to connect with a representative. For emergencies or immediate safety concerns, call 911.

Bear Safety Tips and Vigilance:
🐻 Never approach a bear. Remain calm and slowly back away if you encounter one.
🐻 Make your presence known by speaking calmly and firmly, and avoid surprising bears, especially at dawn or dusk.
🐻 Secure garbage, pet food, and bird feeders inside to avoid attracting bears.
🐻 Keep grills, coolers, and food stored indoors or in bear-resistant containers.
🐻 Do not leave food or scented items in vehicles overnight.
🐻 If hiking or walking, travel in groups and make noise to alert bears of your presence.
🐻 Keep dogs on a leash and under control at all times.
🐻 Be especially vigilant in areas where bears have been recently sighted. Look for bear signs such as tracks or s**t.
🐻 If a bear enters your yard, do not try to scare it away. Go inside and allow the bear to leave on its own.

Denver is turning up the heat today with a high of 100° under a Heat Advisory. The good news? A slight break arrives Tuesday with highs dropping into the low-to-mid 90s, and better chances for afternoon thunderstorms through midweek should take the edge off the extreme heat. Stay hydrated, limit time outdoors during the hottest part of the day, and check on neighbors and pets.

Check out the completed enhancements at Quincy Farm Pond, a historic irrigation pond in Cherry Hills Village, once filled by water drawn from the High Line Canal.

The Village recently dredged the pond to make it smaller and deeper, enhancing water quality. Now, the pond is being refilled with water from an on-site well. Trail users can also access the Quincy Farm Pond using the new footbridge connecting the trail to the farm, a project that was partially funded by the Great Lengths for the High Line campaign.

Check out this new and improved area along the Canal next time you're journeying through Cherry Hills Village!
