The world tells us greatness means being served, having people cater to us, elevate us, and put us first. Jesus flipped that upside down! He chose to serve. He gave His life so we could be free.

That's the example we're called to follow, not chasing status, but choosing service.
🙏💕

It was a great day celebrating community at Greenwood Marketplace! For Community Day

We was glad to be part of today’s celebration, where we had an opportunity to set up, pass out water, connect with our neighbors, and simply show our appreciation for the community we serve.

I also had the opportunity to sit down for an interview and talk about the relationship between The Salvation Army and Greenwood Marketplace and what strong community partnerships make possible.

A special thank you to Derrick Simpson, Manager of Greenwood Marketplace, for bringing everyone together and continuing to be such a great community partner.

When our community comes together, everybody benefits.

Loving like Jesus isn't always easy. It means choosing patience over a reaction, choosing grace over a grudge, and choosing forgiveness over keeping score.

But that's exactly what we're called to: a love that goes deeper than surface-level kindness. A love that covers, forgives, and chooses to see people the way God sees them. So today, pray for the grace to love like Him. 🙏💕

God isn't waiting for us to get it all right or to be perfect before He shows up in our lives. He's near, right in the middle of our messes, our questions, and our doubts.

All He asks is that we look to HIM, not the world, for help. ❤️

We love seeing churches come together to invest in the next generation!

Captain Johnny Anthony had the opportunity to volunteer and serve as a co-leader during Peace, Love, Jesus VBS at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity this week. From crafts and games to Bible lessons and relationship-building, it has been a wonderful opportunity to support a ministry that is making a difference in the lives of children in our community.

At The Salvation Army, we believe that serving our community is stronger when we work together. Thank you to the Episcopal Church of the Nativity for allowing us to be part of this special week!

VBS Day 2! ☮️❤️✝️

Today at Peace, Love, Jesus VBS, we focused on 1 John 4:19: “We love because He first loved us.”

What a powerful reminder for children and adults alike! Throughout the day, we talked about God’s love and how His love for us should inspire the way we love and care for others.

I was blessed to continue serving as a co-leader with the Blue Group, helping with crafts, games, lessons, and plenty of fun along the way. Seeing the excitement on the children’s faces and the friendships being built has been one of the highlights of the week.

Thank you to the Episcopal Church of the Nativity for allowing me to be part of this wonderful ministry. It is a blessing to partner with others in sharing the love of Jesus with the next generation.

August is National Make-a-Will Month. It’s a great time to remember that making or updating your will is a meaningful way to care for your loved ones and the causes you care about most. 📃

A will lets you protect your family, share your wishes, and leave an inheritance that shows what matters to you.

VBS Day 1! ☮️❤️✝️

What do you do for VBS when it’s just you? You think outside the box!

Today I had the privilege of volunteering at Peace, Love, Jesus VBS at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity. In addition to helping with decorations, balloon displays, music, and activities, I also had the opportunity to serve as a co-leader for the Blue Group.

It was a joy to spend the day encouraging children, building relationships, and watching them learn more about God’s love in a fun and engaging environment. One of the greatest blessings of ministry is partnering with others to invest in the next generation.

Thank you to the Episcopal Church of the Nativity for welcoming me and allowing me to serve alongside an incredible team of volunteers. Day 1 is in the books, and I’m looking forward to what the rest of the week holds!
