These creedite crystals on a limonite-coated matrix are crystal clear and absolutely gorgeous. The clusters are like flowers atop a rocky base ☺️

I love when a mineral's name matches its description so well ⏳

I 🧑 vanadinite! My favorite thing about it is its color. My second favorite is how easily I can see the crystal shapes. My third favorite thing is how shiny the crystals are. 🫢

We just received a gigantic shipment of fish fossils, and there are so many to choose from! They range in price from $35 to $100. To appreciate the beauty and detail of the impressions, you really must see them in person πŸ”

The all electrically powered cloud chamber is finally finished! Enjoy this video showing the alpha and beta decay particles from this piece of uraninite shoot from the mineral, through a supersaturated alcohol v***r cloud, which leaves trails of condensed alcohol that you can actually see!

I will be presenting at the May monthly Gem & Mineral Society of Louisiana meeting on the topic of radioactivity and radioactive specimens. I will also be unveiling a demonstration piece at this meeting as well (for those of you who know what it is, don't tell everyone else because I'm trying to keep it a surprise). The meeting will be Monday, May 11th, starting at 7:30pm CST in the Geology Building on the UNO campus. So if you'd like to learn a little about radioactivity and radioactive specimens, and see an absolutely killer demonstration as well, come swing by the meeting! Everyone is welcome to attend, and you don't have to be a member to come to the meeting. Since you clearly don't have any excuses not to aren't, we'll see you there! 😁
