Today was a first for me!
Assisted by my sister , we created this floral installment in front of Cilantro. Be sure to take a pic tomorrow at the parade!
A fun day filled with iced chai’s, cappuccinos and flowers. I had the pleasure of meeting so many Guilford residents and running into so many people we knew. We adore the Guilford parade and cannot wait for tomorrow! Can’t believe we only have 1 out of the 4 kids marching in the parade 😢

Dahlias.
They are on my chopping block every single year. They take up so much space and their bloom time is relatively short compared to other great cut flowers. And their vase life is not great
But
It’s dahlias. They are the star of the show. They demand attention without even trying. They are elegant, complex and can evoke a reaction that not many cut flowers can duplicate. (Besides peonies)

With all that said
The vase life sucks. There, I said it.
How can you ensure that you are getting the most out of our stems
1) fresh cuts- helps keep the water from being blocked
2) Fresh water daily- I would even give that vase a quick cleaning or fresh water along with a fresh vase. Bacteria will shorten vase life!
3) remove any debris or leave from the water line
4) keep them out of direct sunlight
5) placement near ripening fruit will also shorten vase life
