In earlier times, people were acutely aware of their environment. Winter was the time to stay alive, stay warm, go to bed early, and rest. Thanks to human progress, we don’t face these same struggles.

Even though times have changed, it feels harmonious to live in tune with the seasons and our genetic code. It can improve our overall well-being.

Winter is a time for rest, storage, and conservation of energy, both physically and mentally. It’s the season of the kidney and the bladder, both of which require proper hydration.

In Chinese Medicine, fall represents organization, protecting your boundaries, and focusing on your internal state. Moving from the expansive nature of summer to a more contractive nature in fall, it is a great time to cultivate mind and body and become introspective.

The fall season is associated with the lungs and large intestine, which represents taking in the new (lungs) and being mindful of releasing the old (large intestine).

Get cozy this fall season with warm, nourishing foods, practice letting go, organize and declutter, and enjoy the slower pace that this season has to offer.

In Chinese Medicine, summer represents energy, movement, and activity. Life is blooming with flowers, fruits, and vegetables. If you follow the principles of Chinese medicine, you may retire later at this time of year, while still arising early.

One should refrain from becoming overly agitated and stay physically active. Sweating will prevent the pores from closing and the chi from stagnating. Emotionally, it is important to be happy and easygoing and not hold on to grudges so that energy can flow freely.

Spring is here and in Traditional Chinese Medicine this time is known as the season of growth, movement, and potential. It is the season of renewal and cleansing within our bodies and the outside environment.

Traditional Chinese Medicine views humans as microcosms of the environment and as daylight lengthens and the days get warmer, energy flows forth both from within us and in the outside world.

Our bodies begin to awaken out of their winter hibernation and storage mode. The organs of the Liver and Gallbladder are more active in the spring.

This is the ideal time to support your liver and gallbladder which are your main filtering organs through diet, cleansing, herbal support, and exercise.

Trees begin to grow buds and blossom in the spring and we should try to align ourselves with the natural state of the seasons. This time allows us to let go of the old patterns that no longer serve us and bring fresh energy to our health, mental clarity, and emotional well-being.

Learn how to align your health with the season of spring, through the lens of traditional Chinese medicine and view our newest product, Settle Stress.
