Planning a party? Whether it’s a small family get together or a large Sweet 16, here are three things you should keep in mind to keep your event running smoothly.
Choose a theme or color palette that complements the event space. If you have a venue with all white flooring and walls, creating a rustic environment will be a costly uphill battle. And if you are going for a modern look, a venue with heavy patterned rugs will take over every aspect of the space.
People book community clubhouses for smaller events and often times the flooring clashes. For these cases, I suggest getting flooring for your focal point. This ties the decor together and creates a polished look.
It doesn’t have to be full floor wrap. A simple single-color panel can be enough to tie in the look.
Guests arrive hungry. And the first few minutes of a party can be a little awkward. So break the ice and keep guests happy by making sure you have some snacks and finger foods out.
Make sure the food is already plated or a single bite. For instance, if you are serving ceviche, don’t set out a large bowl. Serve them in single serve cups with a small utensil. If it’s a single bite item, put a toothpick on top to make it easy for guests to grab. This makes it easy for guests to grab and keeps the food area clean.
Even though we all want very grand focal points, getting a good picture in front of it is also important. Make sure there is enough space in front of the focal point so that the photographer can stand back and be able to capture all (or most) of the decor. Keep the guests table at least a few feet away so you don’t get the tables when taking pictures.
