The Way We Were Bookshop 15,000+ hardbound, mostly non-fiction The Way We Were Used & Rare Bookshop, is located in the Phoebus section of Hampton, Va.

We carry a shelved inventory of over 10,000 volumes plus over 100,000 in various stages of storage (we may not have what you need immediately on hand but we will gladly sift over time and contact you if and when we find it). 98% of our inventory is hardbound, the remainder trade paperbacks (no regular paperbacks). We specialize in any form of military history but have excellent selections of the American Civil War, WWII and the American Revolution. We also maintain quality selections in the areas of Virginiana, maritime/nautical, railroading and technical. We have very good inventory in theology, the arts, cooking, aerospace/aeronautical, gunning/hunting/fishing, other countries, childrens' and collectibles. Lesser collections in automotive, photography, architecture, mysteries, New Age and math & sciences. Finally, we offer a very large selection of leatherbounds, both vintage and modern (Easton Press and Franklin). We also maintain a presence on ABEbooks where we have approximately 5,000 listings, usually rarer and more expensive choices. We are a bricks and mortar business having served Southeastern Virginia for over 20 years (and planning on at least 15 more). And, as we own our building, we are not about to be closed for reasons resulting from a landlord.
