I’ve had a Minelab Manticore metal detector for a couple years but I’ve never really used it because I know my Minelab Equinox 800 so well. I did ok for my first real hunt detecting for float copper in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It did hit a little better than my 800 as I had someone else using that detector.

Jimmy found an unreal specimen. We should have went home after this but the mosquitoes were happy we didn’t.

I recently bought an old collection of Michigan float copper that was found by someone metal detecting in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Though they had mostly been cleaned years ago, my power washer made them really nice. If you see one you’re interested in feel free to send a private message.

Finally have a nice shop space, now to get everything here and organized. Time to grind some copper and also get a couple projects completed for some customers that have been waiting too long. 😊

Jimmy found a nice piece when he was out metal detecting for Michigan float copper. He was using a Minelab Equinox 800 detector. He was nice enough to film, nevermind when he gets distracted.

Finding Michigan float copper while metal detecting somewhere in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula never gets old. The biggest pieces aren’t always the nicest. This one couldn’t get any better.

Had to catch up on power washing some float copper. I wish I could say I found all of this myself, but that isn’t the case. Now it’s time to get it to the shop and start working on it. If a piece catches your eye, just send a private message. All these were found while metal detecting somewhere in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

It’s a long one, I filmed just about every piece of Michigan float copper that I found while out metal detecting, and most of Jimmy’s. Shoutout to for the awesome shovels. We did way too much prying on some of the rocks you’ll see and so far we haven’t been able to break their shovels.

A 50 pound piece of Michigan float copper. They don’t come in intricate, 3D shapes like this one very often. As an added bonus, it has great patina. Unfortunately I didn’t find this one, but I was happy to buy it. It was found by someone metal detecting somewhere in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. I’m not touching this one, no stand, no grinding and certainly no acid cleaning.

Finding silver on our chunks of Michigan Float Copper isn’t super rare, but it’s also not too common. Most often it’s little specks. Here are 4 pieces I recently stumbled across while power washing. These were all found while metal detecting.
