📚 Joey’s Cove Crew Pick : The Witch by Freida McFadden 🧙‍♀️

I have always enjoyed Freida McFadden’s books! She has a way of writing that keeps you turning the pages, and her books are usually such quick, enjoyable reads. For someone who doesn’t always have a lot of time to sit down with a book, I love that feeling of getting caught up in a story and finishing it in no time!

Of course, The Witch immediately caught my attention because I love anything that has to do with witches and witchcraft and the cover of the book is great !

The story goes back and forth between 1692 and the present day. In 1692, we meet Caroline, a young woman accused of being a witch. In the present day, we meet Julia, who returns to her family’s old estate, Pemberton, to visit her grandmother and aunt and see whether her grandmother is still able to live on her own.

Julia remembers the house from her childhood, along with the feeling that it might be haunted. As she spends more time there, strange things begin to happen, and you start to wonder what is really going on. There is also a gentleman interested in the estate and its history, which adds another interesting layer to the story.

And as with so many Freida McFadden books, things aren’t always what they seem!

I really enjoyed the way the story moved between the two time periods, and I was especially interested in the history of the house and the witchcraft connection. It kept me reading because I wanted to know how everything was going to come together.

And the ending? I didn’t see it coming! Sometimes I think I have Freida McFadden figured out, but she still manages to surprise me!

If you enjoy a little mystery, family secrets, witchcraft, and a story that keeps you guessing, I would definitely recommend picking up The Witch. It’s another entertaining, quick read from Freida McFadden!

📖 Happy Reading!

🍂📚 A Haunting Good Time Is Coming to Our Little Bookstore! 👻🐝

Just in time for Halloween, we’re so excited to welcome local Massachusetts author Erin Petti to our bookstore for a special book signing!

🗓️ Sunday, October 18th
🕛 12:00 PM

If you have a young reader who loves ghost stories, mysteries, magic, and a little bit of spooky adventure, this is one event you won’t want to miss! 🎃✨

Erin is the author of the wonderfully quirky Thelma Bee series, perfect for readers ages 8–12!

📚 The Peculiar Haunting of Thelma Bee

📚 Thelma Bee in Toil and Treble

📚 Thelma Bee and the Darkwood Queen

And now, all three adventures are together in Peculiar Hauntings: The Thelma Bee Collection! This special edition also includes Bloodbones, a spooky (and surprisingly holly-jolly!) bonus short story appearing in print for the very first time!

🍄 We’ll also have Once Upon a Rhyme, a magical collection featuring a contribution from Erin!

Not only is Erin a talented storyteller, she’s also a creative writing instructor who has helped hundreds of young writers across Massachusetts discover their own creative voices. How wonderful is that? ❤️

🍁 Come meet Erin, get your books signed, and celebrate a local author right here in our little bookstore!

There’s nothing quite like putting a book into the hands of a young reader and watching a whole new world open up. And getting to meet the author who created that world? Even better! 🧡

We hope you’ll join us for a little Halloween magic and a whole lot of bookish fun! 📚👻
