This was the NYC skyline I grew up with.
For my 16th birthday, my parents took me and a friend to the Top of the World restaurant. A year before the Towers fell, Storme, then 3, and I took the PATH into the World Trade Center on our way to the Seaport.
On 9/11, I was driving into NYC to meet my mom. I heard about the first plane on the radio and could see the smoke from 9A. I was on the West Side Highway when the second plane hit. I turned around, knowing something was terribly wrong.
That was the day our world changed forever.
Calder, my 24-year-old recently said to me, “This is the only world I know.”
Just let that sit for a second.
Today, we remember those who never came home—and the families who have carried their loss ever since.
Never forget. 🇺🇸
