A little tour of our little bookshop! We’re not just books - your proprietor also loves to make things out of “forsaken” books, fabrics, etc. so there are lots of locally handmade things for you, your walls, and your shelves!

A fellow came in to the shop yesterday asking for this book specifically. I had it in online inventory but didn’t have my spreadsheets with me to locate it. It’s not in great shape but the pages are clean - it’ll be in the shop this week!

New merch at Forsaken Books! I’m making 1.5” pinback buttons - the tray is full but I didn’t get a photo of it before I took it in to the shop. Just $2.50/each or 5 for $10!

Add some FLAIR to your jacket, bag, or backpack!

There are printed ones, printed genuine vintage labels, images printed on reclaimed book page, reclaimed candy wrappers (so cute!), reclaimed magazine images, and a couple of snarky collages (also shown are collages in progress).

Soon I’ll have magnets and keychains/bag charms, just waiting on samples to R&D and then supplies.

New offerings from Forsaken Books! Come check out my sized, stretch fit beaded bracelets and add a splash of color to your stack!

I use Czech and Chinese glass beads - I love working with the little 11/0 size, but as my stash and skills grow I’ll have more varieties, if this is something you like.

Last week I made some boho-style clasped bracelets with leather cord and wood beads, and some corded cabochon feather necklaces.

Next week I’ll have some Mint Julep bracelets (a mix of greens, whites, and bourbon 🥃 beads).

Also, don’t forget to come in and browse for some reading material! I add a box of books just about every week. The Romance section is looking a little thin lately, but we’re flush on Mysteries and cookbooks!

Do we have any hand quilters here? I have these hexagons available in the shop, if you do English paper piecing (or want to start). Reclaimed from sturdy book pages or dust jackets - from damaged books, of course!

A little bit of a reset yesterday at Forsaken Books! Leslie agreed to let me use the Grinch Tree - I 💚 it!

Our Bag Sale will continue until we run out of bags - buy one for $10 and fill it with FREE BOOKS! (individually priced books only - does not apply to Blind Date books, mini books, crafts, decor books, etc.) We’re all out of the cloth tote bags for now, but I’ve got ✨ideas✨ and as soon as I can make them a reality, we’ll have handmade denim (?) patchwork totes that you can also fill with free books 📚

In addition to books, we also offer:

- lens cleaning cloths
- handmade glasses pouches and zipper pouches
- handmade book sleeves
- handmade bookmarks (made from reclaimed album covers, art from forsaken books, and reclaimed sweater yarn tassels)

- handmade Puffy Letter banners (custom orders too!), bag charm/keychains, and ornaments
- NEW framed classical art prints reclaimed from art books, with book page wrapped mats; check out our new gallery wall! Also framed dog portraits (not reclaimed)
- vinyl wall art from reclaimed record albums, a few of these left (and ideas/materials for many more)
- BLIND DATE WITH A BOOK - these were quite popular last year, I have 3 left over and a pile more to do, keep an eye out! These books are wrapped in brown paper and festively adorned with stickers and pockets full of goodies, the genre, and a brief synopsis (or the first few lines of the book) on a handmade-paper card.

PUFFY LETTERS!!

I’m working on a few “Happy Birthday” banners - somehow I missed cutting an H in the pink unicorn fabric so I had some fun 😊 and it will be available soon… with all the letters.

I do have it in blue Olaf, and working on one in a vintage butterfly print (in “extra hippie” font!).

These are locally handmade, complete and ready to hang. Reusable for years! And you can move the letters around to make anagrams 🤭

CUSTOM ORDERS ACCEPTED! Choose your word or phrase (and/or shapes!), fabric type, letter size and hanging style (twine, rope or ribbon), and I’ll make you one! Pricing starts at $6 per letter. Pre-made bundles like Happy Birthday enjoy a bit of a discount (coming soon: Thankful and Merry Christmas).

If you want puffy letters as magnets, or your initial as a bag charm, I can do that!

Mixed flannels and denims available now, as well as a variety of cottons I have on hand, and gold metallic (see the Welcome sign above the checkout counter!); patchwork is coming soon, and I’ll be experimenting with satin. Woot!!

New little boxy tote bag from Forsaken Threads just finished! Made from upholstery fabric sample swatches, with a yummy muslin lining, and sturdy handmade straps. It’s about 11” X 11” X 1.5” with about a 6” drop and an interior pocket*.

I’m using mine (not shown, it was the “first pancake” where I learned from most of my mistakes) as a project bag for my cross-stitch WIPs.

*I did not learn from my pocket mistakes, so this one’s a little funky. Discounted price for this imperfectly handmade, perfectly functional bag in an awesome peacock print (burlap? Linen?) forsaken fabric.

Should be available in the bookshop at The Exchange On Main by Saturday.
