The Midtown Scholar Bookstore is honored to host author, poet, and scholar Chet’la Sebree on Friday, June 19, 2026, to celebrate the release of her evocative, compelling memoir, TURN (W)HERE. Sebree will be in conversation with novelist and poet Clare Beams. This FREE Mainstage program begins at 6pm and launches our Third Fridays author series!

This week, we examine some beautiful covers created by Amy Sacker, a female book designer based in Boston. Next, there are some new and exciting letters from 21st century artists that the Scholar has acquired. Looking through letters from famous artists such as Rockwell Kent, Thomas Benton, and Norman Geddes give us perspectives into their personal lives and viewpoints.
Plus: an author cover that is very much of its time.

This week, the Midtown crew is in Canada, finding treasures at the Birchway Book Riot. Thousands of used books, CDs and other media were displayed on an ice skating rink- definitely not your average book sale! Eric shows off just a few finds, including a first edition of Anne of Green Gables, plays by famous playwrights, and plenty of Canadian history books.
Plus: a book dedicated to the reincarnation theory of two famous folks.

Despite the rain last Thursday, plenty of folks showed up to the Midtown Scholar’s buying hours! Today, Eric shows off some impressive Bibles published in Philadelphia and a collection of first printing Pulitzer Prize winning novels.
