What’s in the Bag: Range Day Edition

Rifle, mags loaded, ear pro ready, and a little ammo left to burn. Some days at the range are about testing a new setup, some are just about getting reps in.

Either way, having the right gear laid out and ready makes all the difference.

Sight-In Before You Head Out

Hunting season is almost here, and now’s the time to make sure your rifle is actually ready for it.

A few things worth doing before opening day:

Sight in your optics. Don’t assume last season’s zero still holds. Temperature changes, travel, and normal wear can all shift point of impact.

Zero separately if you’re running a silencer. Adding a silencer changes your rifle’s point of impact, sometimes significantly. If you zeroed without one, you’ll need to re-zero once it’s mounted.

Run a function check. Cycle the action, check your trigger, and make sure everything is feeding and ejecting the way it should.

Inspect your gear. Slings, mounts, and rings loosen over time. A quick check now beats a surprise in the field.

We offer sight-in services, function checks, and optics mounting if you’d rather have a professional set of eyes on it before the season starts. Beat the rush and get it done now.

Thank you, President Trump, for restoring our Second Amendment rights and gutting the National Fi****ms Act!

What Does a Gunsmith Actually Do?

“I didn’t know gunsmiths cleaned firearms.”

We hear this a lot. Most people only think to visit a gunsmith when something’s broken, but a big part of what we do is preventative: professional cleanings, safety inspections, and catching small issues before they become expensive repairs.

In our latest blog post, we break down everything a gunsmith actually handles, from diagnostics and repairs to safety inspections and proper accessory installation.

Up on the Blog: Understanding Threadlocker

Loose screws and fasteners are one of the most common problems we see in the shop, from scope rings backing out to optics shifting under recoil. The fix often comes down to one thing: using the right threadlocker.

Not all Loctite is created equal. Blue, red, purple, and green each serve a different purpose, and using the wrong one can turn a simple job into a frustrating one (stripped screws, damaged parts, and headaches nobody needs).

We broke down which color to use, when, and how to apply it properly in our latest blog post. Read more https://ballisticforge.com/understanding-threadlocker-choosing-the-right-loctite-and-using-it-properly/
