Unfortunately, Pennsylvania Title 18, Section 7104 currently makes it a third-degree misdemeanor to offer services like tarot card readings or astrology for compensation. This law dates back to 1861 and is an unconstitutional infringement on First Amendment free speech and freedom of expression. We’ve already seen the negative impact of this law locally, such as the federal lawsuit involving a small business owner in Hanover who was threatened with enforcement simply for offering tarot readings. This law harms legitimate small businesses, wastes law enforcement resources, and targets alternative spiritual practices.

I am calling to urge [Representative’s / Senator’s Last Name] to support House Bill 1562 to repeal Pennsylvania’s outdated ban on fortune telling under Section 7104. I built this shop to be more than just a retail space—a place to break out of the daily productivity loop, surround yourself with rare, colorful plants, and find intentional tools for mental well-being and anxiety relief.

Now, we are ready for the next big step. We have officially applied for a $25,000 Dauphin County Tourism Grant!

If awarded, these funds are going straight back into our downtown community: ✨ Designing & installing permanent exterior signage 🛠️ Funding vital shop repairs to elevate the storefront experience 👥 Creating local jobs by hiring our very first 1-2 part-time team members!

Most importantly, building a team means I can finally step out from behind the counter to launch the weekend workshops, and interactive events you’ve all been asking for—bringing even more foot traffic and vibrant energy into the heart of Harrisburg.

To everyone who has traveled near and far (and even booked hotel stays!) just to visit us: thank you. You are the reason we grow.
