The Story of The Fish Whistle:
The term Fish Whistle has been around for decades. I have always tinkered with whittling and carving wood and have had the idea bouncing around in my head for years. I decided to make the first crude version as a gift for a friend of mine!! You see it pictured below! I knew there was big opportunity for something like this in a specific sect of the fishing community!! So I put together a business plan and pitched it to a couple of my favorite content creators. I then created them each their own custom whistle and mailed them out. They dropped videos and one video went completely viral 🤘💯 thanks to this marketing strategy and product idea, a new opportunity and new market had been created. The Fish Whistle was booming!!! 😎🔥💯 we sold over 1000 orders in 5 months and we were setting up for a new badass limited drop in 2025 with a specific creator. We reached the drop date and he let me know he was working on his end and had just been busy. So I waited and waited and never heard anything. Next contact I received was a phone call letting me know that they had decided to move forward with production on their own version of a fish whistle without me. I of course reacted poorly to my idea being ran with and being excluded from my own invention and idea. I was offered a “royalty deal” via a vague contract with the amounts “to be determined later”. I obviously can’t sign my idea over to someone for nothing in return, so I declined. I then received a letter that night asking me to remove all affiliated products from my website, and to remove any online affiliation, and that I am no longer licensed to sell their brand or logo. I emailed back and begged them to reconsider and to continue working WITH ME to produce my own fish whistles. Proven products that folks love. Instead of a response I received nothing and was blocked on FB because they “wanted to avoid public dispute”. Well stealing my product and idea is pretty plainly wrong. I won’t slander him and I won’t even say his name. I wish him and his family all the best in this life. I hope that life and business teach some valuable lessons about honor and about integrity, but I will never wish ill will on anyone. I would simply ask that you guys look at the facts, and support whoever you feel is in the right. The wooden tacklebox version of a Fish Whistle is a Big Country Fishing product that we developed, tested, and launched. We will be moving forward with the Big Country Fishing Whistles (3” original model), the Fish Whistle XL (4” with all metal bowl), and the Fish Whistle XXL (6” Steamroller Spook).
