UPDATE — WE WILL BE CLOSED TODAY

We had planned to be open today, but unfortunately, we’ve had to change those plans.

Following the vehicle accident in front of the store Saturday evening, access to the parking lot remains restricted and there is still debris in the area. Out of concern for the safety of our customers and respect for the restricted area, we feel remaining closed today is the best decision.

We sincerely apologize for the last-minute change, especially to anyone who had planned to stop in and shop with us today.

We plan to return to our regular hours tomorrow.

🌡️ MEDICAL HISTORY WEDNESDAY

Today, checking a patient’s temperature can take only seconds—but that certainly wasn’t always the case!

In the mid-1800s, clinical thermometers could be about a foot long and required patients to hold them in place for approximately 20 minutes.

In 1867, Sir Thomas Clifford Allbutt introduced a much more practical six-inch thermometer that could provide a reading in about five minutes.

Just one year later, German physician Carl Wunderlich published research based on more than one million temperature readings from approximately 25,000 patients. His work helped establish body temperature as an important clinical measurement and provided an early baseline for what was considered a normal temperature range.

Glass mercury thermometers remained common for nearly a century. Then came ear thermometers, digital displays and infrared technology—reducing a 20-minute process to just seconds.

Healthcare has come a long way! Could you imagine waiting 20 minutes every time you needed to take a patient’s temperature?

A HUGE thank you to Nurse Patty for letting Morgan-Anne Uniforms get her ready for the new school year! We had so much fun putting together her new school-year look, and we absolutely LOVE how everything turned out!
