As some of you may know, this past Tuesday I lost my hero.

He was my mentor, my best friend, and my dad.

I don’t know if I’ll ever measure up to the man he was, but I’m going to continue trying.

So far, I’ve been making it okay, but I know there will be struggles as the days go by. Dad and I would FaceTime every evening around 8:30. We’d talk about what we had done that day, and every now and then throughout the day, he’d call just to see what I was working on.

I owe all of my craftsmanship to my father. I was blessed to be raised by a man who could literally do anything with his two hands. From the time I was old enough to hold a sander, I was down in the cabinet shop with him every day.

He taught me to take pride in my work and to never put anything out there that I wasn’t proud of. Dad was the kind of man whose word was worth more than his signature. He never got tired of my questions and always took the time to explain not only what he was doing, but why he did things the way he did.

I can’t thank everyone enough for the prayers, texts, and phone calls. They truly mean more to me than you’ll ever know.

I literally can’t even look in the mirror without thinking of him.

I’m definitely going to miss him.

I sure do love you, Dad, and I hope I’ve made you proud.

I’m thankful for my wife, Donna, and my baby Katie. I honestly don’t know how I’d make it through this without them. I’m also thankful for my close relationship with the Lord. Dad left behind a testimony that I’m proud of, and I know that one day we’ll rejoice together in Heaven.

Please continue to remember our family in your prayers.

I love you, Dad. Until we meet again.
