Here’s a recent restoration we completed. The last image is a “before”.
This was a well pitted 1943 Remington-Rand that was nickel plated long ago. Another shop attempted a restoration first, but was less successful. They tried parkerizing, and then painting without removing the nickel. Naturally, the poor gun deserved a fresh start.
We properly stripped the plating and paint, staked in a new front sight, removed most of the pitting, cleaned up the trigger and hammer hooks, sanded, media blasted, and then properly parkerized everything. The original barrel was lost, but at least the new barrel will be accurate. The color difference at the front of the slide is normal; An artifact from heat treating at the time of manufacture.
A gun is only original once, but at least this one almost looks the part again.
