A letter to our customers, (please read everything!)
We are at a bittersweet end of an era.
After almost 8 amazing years, I have decided to close the doors of Down South Sugar Co LLC (Nobody is quitting so don’t freak out 😂)
This has been a very difficult decision to make for me as this has been my HEART AND SOUL since I was 22 years old.
When I was freshly out of Esthetician school, only a few existed in town and salons weren’t willing(or interested) to make space for that position. I was left with no other choice but to create my own space and that’s how the “dream” of Down South Sugar came to life!
Nothing turns you into an adult much faster than becoming a full fledged storefront business owner. The ride has been full of learning, growth and a few challenges - covid, a fire, expansion, birth and death just to name a few. BUT, the memories and relationships I have built with the customers, clients and the girls I have worked with over the years are irreplaceable and forever a part of my success and made me who I am today! 😭
For the last 6 months or so, I have really delved into re-evaluating my goals…maybe because 30 is knocking on my door. 😂 Which leads me back to HEART AND SOUL…..
My personal life, as everyone knows, has changed significantly the last 8 years. I married my high school sweetheart four years ago and 15 months ago we welcomed the little girl that changed everything! She has been the cornerstone of Down South Sugar since…a memory, opportunity and privilege not many get in life(working and raising a baby as one).
I have reached a point where I realized my husband and child deserve my HEART AND SOUL not some building and responsibility that takes every ounce of my existence.
I will be moving to the Hartsville Salon Suites (same vicinity just a block over) to continue seeing all of my clients in a space where I can turn the building management over to someone else and get back to what I love the most… my craft and clients.
I will share where the girls are going as they give me that information so that you can follow them to their next destination.
Growth and change are HARD but necessary to be the best version of ourselves. Thank you to everyone who has helped me build Down South Sugar Co to what it has become today. It has been an amazing and beautiful whirlwind. I am so incredibly grateful for every single day of this.
Cheers to new beginnings,
Hayden (the “down south” sugarist)
