How many times have you gone through this intersection – almost on autopilot? To pick up birdseed at Hartville Elevator, grab a bite at The Pantry, attend a meeting at Village Hall, or stop by the Chocolate Factory or the gallery in the old train station. Passing through on the way to Canton, Uniontown, Maize Valley, or Marlboro. Crossing the railroad tracks toward Quail Hollow or Congress Lake. Back again for holiday lights at Christmas or a summer festival. Just part of everyday Hartville.

Paving is underway on Sunnyside Street SW in downtown Hartville, from South Prospect to Grand Trunk Ave. A $160,300 state grant to the Village of Hartville is helping fund nearly half the project. Thanks to Christa Kozy for capturing the before-and-after shots!

Constructed in the 1930s, this building – originally located at the corner of North Prospect and Sunnyside Street in Historic Downtown Hartville – once served as a parsonage before housing Donald Smyth’s law office and Stickler’s Barber Shop. After being relocated to the corner of Sunnyside Street and Belle Avenue by businessman Leo Domer and attorney James W. McPherson Jr., it continued to operate as a law office, served as the town's first public library, and hosted a variety of businesses over the years. Special thanks to the Lake Township Historical Society for preserving photo records of this building and many others throughout our community.
